Revard Digital: Building a Custom SaaS Platform for Hotel Revenue Management

Jappware helped Revard Digital transform a fragmented, spreadsheet-based revenue management process into a scalable SaaS platform for the hospitality industry. The solution integrates with PMS and CMS systems, automates data collection from multiple sources, and delivers real-time hotel revenue analytics.

About the client

Revard Digital was founded by Robert Nagel, a financial expert who built his career helping hotels improve their revenue strategies and performance through hands-on consulting. Working closely with hospitality businesses, he used data, market signals, and each property’s competitive strengths to guide better pricing and distribution decisions.

To deliver these insights, however, he relied on spreadsheets, semi-manual inputs, and a mix of disconnected tools. This approach worked, but it required a lot of effort and became harder to scale as the client base grew.

To move beyond these limitations, Robert decided to automate key workflows in his business with custom software. As the project progressed, this idea evolved into a full SaaS solution for hotels.

About the client - Jappware

A Word from the Client

Robert Nagel

Founder & Managing Director atRevard

“The team developed a custom SaaS application with real-time integration into the client’s data. They were very dedicated to the project and dug deep to understand the industry (hotel) specific terms and necessary objectives to successfully finish the project.”

Challenges

While the client’s business was already successful, moving to the next stage of growth required a shift. Several challenges highlighted the need for custom software development.

Spreadsheet-based workflowsThe client’s revenue analysis process relied on spreadsheets, with data pulled from multiple sources, partially processed through scripts, and finalized manually. This made the workflow time-consuming and heavily dependent on a single person.
Complex data & process logicThe client operates in a narrow niche, where financial and management processes are built around unique calculations, metrics, and business logic. Automating these workflows required a tailored hotel revenue management solution.
Fragmented toolsetThe client used data from various sources, including direct access to PMS/CMS platforms and exported reports shared by hotels via email. The lack of a system that automatically consolidated this data created a constant risk of inconsistencies.
Growth constraintsFor each hotel, the client had to collect data, analyze it, and prepare insights manually. As a result, the business could only grow as fast as he could handle the workload. This created a bottleneck in onboarding new hotels and limited scalability.

Cooperation

When the client decided to build a hotel revenue management platform, he didn’t have in-house technical expertise, so he was looking for a software development partner. Jappware was recommended by an agile consultant who had previously worked with the team. This marked the start of the collaboration. Here are its key highlights:

Why Jappware

Besides the trusted recommendation, the client valued Jappware’s fintech development expertise and a strong pricing fit. Just as importantly, both the client and the team shared the same values: trust, partnership, quality, and agility.

Roles and responsibilitiesOn the client’s side, Robert, the founder, acted as the primary stakeholder. He worked closely with the team to explain the business context, niche-specific logic, and calculations. Jappware, in turn, assessed the technical feasibility of ideas and handled all technical execution.
Iterative deliveryThe collaboration followed a structured, iterative approach, with weekly alignment calls and bi-weekly demos to review progress and plan next steps. This created continuous feedback loops and allowed the product to evolve in line with the client’s expectations.
Dedicated team modelJappware engineers were fully dedicated to the project and actively worked to understand the client’s complex, domain-specific workflows.
Cooperation - Jappware

As a result, Jappware supported the project from initial requirements to a successful beta release. This stage was followed by a structured handover to the client’s internal team, assembled as the business evolved from a traditional consultancy into a SaaS company.

Solution

We delivered a functional hotel revenue management solution, ready for real-world use both internally by the client and as a SaaS product for hotels.

Monolithic architectureThe client set a tight timeline for this SaaS software development project — around six months to build an MVP. To move fast, we chose a monolithic architecture. This approach simplified development and let us focus on core functionality without unnecessary complexity.
API integrationsWe built a robust API layer to connect the client’s revenue management platform with popular hotel PMS/CMS systems, including Mews and Sihot. This allows the platform to collect and standardize data from different sources, align it with internal models, and prepare it for custom calculations.
Hotel onboardingThe revenue management platform made onboarding of a new hotel quick and easy, with minimal setup required. The hotel only needs to provide basic business details and access credentials. After that, the platform automatically connects to its PMS, creates a hotel profile, and starts pulling data.
Historic data & real-time insightsThe platform imports historical hotel data from the PMSs/CMSs and continuously updates it in the background, providing near real-time insights. To let users work efficiently with all this information, we implemented a fast-loading interface with over 100 columns and numerous filters.
Analytics & report templatesThe platform lets users analyze hotel performance across periods and properties and break it down by customer segments and room categories using a number of metrics (occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, room revenue). Users can also create report templates with their preferred settings and visualizations.
Reservation pageThe reservation page provides a detailed view of individual booking records, including dates, pricing, segments, guest information, and status. It acts as a drill-down layer, complementing aggregated analytics and allowing users to validate metrics through deeper investigation.
User managementThe platform uses role-based access control, with roles including admins, hotel chain admins, hotel admins, and employees. Each role has defined permissions and access levels.
LocalizationThe client planned to offer the new SaaS management platform to hospitality teams in other countries. To prepare for this expansion, we made the solution bilingual, with full UI support in English and German.

Project Milestones

The project followed several key phases typical of SaaS software development, with our dedicated team supporting each step along the way.
